ยาแก้อักเสบกับยาฆ่าเชื้อ เหมือนหรือต่างกันอย่างไร
ยาแก้อักเสบที่พูดกัน ส่วนมากมักจะหมายถึงยาฆ่าเชื้อแบคทีเรีย ซึ่งใช้รักษาโรคที่เกิดจากการติดเชื้อแบคทีเรียเท่านั้น หากติดเชื้ออื่นเช่น ไวรัส ยาจะไม่สามารถรักษาได้ ยกตัวอย่าง คนไข้เจ็บคอ จาม มีน้ำมูก มีไข้ แพทย์ตรวจแล้วน่าจะเป็นจากไวรัส การที่คนไข้จะขอยาฆ่าเชื้อไม่ว่าจะเป็นกินหรือฉีดนั้น ไม่ได้ประโยชน์ใดๆทั้งสิ้น แถมอาจทำให้ในอนาคตหากไม่สบายจากแบคทีเรียจริงๆ อาจเป็นแบคทีเรียดื้อยาที่ไม่สามารถใช้ยาปกติรักษา จำเป็นต้องนอน รพ. เพื่อรับยาที่มีผลข้างเคียงสูงอีกด้วย
ส่วนยาแก้อักเสบในภาษาทางการแพทย์ จะเรียก Antiinflammatory drug คือยากลุ่มที่มุ่งเน้นไปในการลดการอักเสบ โดยไม่ได้สนใจว่าการอักเสบนั้นเกิดจากสาเหตุใด เช่น ยากลุ่ม Steroid ยากลุ่ม NSAID (NonSteroidal AntiInflammatory Drug เช่น Ibuprofen, mefenamic acid, diclofenac, celecoxib เป็นต้น)

What is Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid ( Augmentin )?
Amoxicillin and clavulanic acid is a combination of two antibacterials. Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall mucopeptide synthesis. Clavulanic acid inactivates a wide range of betalactam enzymes found in bacteria resistant to penicillins and cephalosporins. So the addition of clavulanic acid to amoxicillin extends its spectrum of activity to cover betalactamase producing Grampositive and Gramnegative organisms, including some Gramnegative anaerobes.
It is available as Tablets: 250 mg amoxicillin/125 mg clavulanic acid, 500 mg amoxicillin/125 mg clavulanic acid, 875 mg amoxicillin/125 mg clavulanic acid.
Powder for oral suspension: 125 mg amoxicillin/31.25 mg clavulanic acid/5 mL, 200 mg amoxicillin/28.5 mg clavulanic acid/5 mL, 250 mg amoxicillin/62.5 mg clavulanic acid/5 mL, 400 mg amoxicillin/57 mg clavulanic acid/5 mL
Augmentin ES600 Powder for oral suspension: 600 mg amoxicillin (as trihydrate) and 42.9 mg clavulanic acid/5 mL (as the potassium salt).
Also available as chewable tablets
