Parts of small intestine:
Duodenum (2530 cm long)
Function of Duodenum: chemical Digestion, Chemical Neutralization and Iron absorbtion
Sceletopia of duodenum: L1L3
Syntopia of the duodenum: Aorta, Vena cava inferior and right kidney behind. Superior Pancreas and Liver.
Holotopy: Epigastric and Umbilical region.sd
Jejunum (23m long) and Ileum (24 m long)
Absorption happens here
Sceletopy: L2 Fossa Iliaca
Syntopy: Large intestine around, greater omentum anteriorly and organs behind
Holotopa: Jejenum in umbilical and left lateral region. The ileum lies in the right lateral region, pubic region, and right inguinal region.
Duodenum consist of
Superior part (Ostium Pyloricum to flexura duodeni superior)
Descending part (Flexura duodeni superior to flexura duodeni inferior)
Horizontal part
Ascending part forms flexura duodenojejenalis
Flexura duodenojejenalis is held up through the ligament from left crus of diaphragm.
Jejunum and Ileum: Fixed to posterior wall through radix mesenteryRadix mesentery goes from duodenojejunal flexure to art. sacroiliac joint
Walls of small intestines:
Tunica Mucosa:
Innermost layer made of epithelial cells.
Has Plicae Circulares, absent in bulbus duodeni.
on plicae circulares we have intestinal villis.
Villi lined with microvilli
Between each villi, we have glandulae intestinales.
Tunica mucosa contains noduli lymphoidei solitarii and noduli lymphoidei aggregati.
Tunica mucosa forms plica longitudinalis duodeni with has papilla duodeni major. Papilla duodeni minor above.
Tela Submucosa
Contains Glandula Duodenales
Tunica Muscularis
Inner part: Circular muscle fibers
Outer part: Longitudinal muscle fibers
Tunica muscularis make a sphinter called m. sphinter ampulla hepatopancreatica.
Tunica Serosa
Interperitoneal organs: completely surrounded by peritoneum, superior and ascending duodenum, jejunum, and ileum
Retroperitoneal organs: rest of duodenum
