Enema (plural enemata or enemas) or clyster, is a fluid injected into the lower bowel by way of the rectum. The most frequent use of an enema is to relieve constipation or for bowel cleansing before a medical examination or procedure.
Positions for Using an Enema
Leftside position:
Lie on left side with knee bent, and arms resting comfortably.
Kneechest position:
Kneel, then lower head and chest forward until left side of face is resting on surface with left arm folded comfortably.
