What is Stalevo?

Stalevo is used to treat Parkinson’s disease.
Stalevo contains the three active ingredients, levodopa, carbidopa, and entacapone. In your body the levodopa is converted into dopamine. The carbidopa and entacapone allow more of the levodopa you take to get into your brain, before it is changed into dopamine.
Dopamine is a substance called a neurotransmitter. It acts as a chemical messenger between nerve cells in the brain and nervous system. People with Parkinson’s disease have lower amounts of dopamine in certain parts of their brains. This causes problems with the nerve messages that are sent from the brain to muscles and results in the symptoms of the disease, such as stiff muscles, slow movements and shaking.

Tác dụng của entacapone là gì?
Thuốc này được sử dụng chung với các loại thuốc khác (levodopa/carbidopa) để trị bệnh Parkinson. Entacapone thuộc nhóm thuốc ức chế COMT. Nhiều người dùng levodopa để điều trị Parkinson thường gặp phải trường hợp levodopa trở nên giảm tác dụng giữa các liều, khiến các triệu chứng tái phát hoặc trở nên nghiêm trọng hơn. Entacapone ngăn cản một chất tự nhiên trong cơ thể (enzyme COMT) phá vỡ các levodopa trong cơ thể. Tác dụng này cho phép các levodopa tồn tại lâu hơn trong cơ thể giúp thuốc không bị đào thải trước liều tiếp theo.
Bạn nên uống entacapone như thế nào?
Uống thuốc kèm hoặc không kèm với thức ăn, thường kèm với mỗi liều levodopa/carbidopa đã được chỉ định (8 lần mỗi ngày) hoặc theo chỉ dẫn của bác sĩ.
Liều lượng này được dựa trên tình trạng sức khỏe của bạn, chức năng gan, và khả năng đáp ứng điều trị của bạn.
Sử dụng thuốc thường xuyên để có hiệu quả tốt nhất. Để nhớ lịch uống thuốc, hãy dùng thuốc vào những thời điểm giống nhau mỗi ngày. Không đột ngột ngưng dùng thuốc trừ khi có sự hướng dẫn của bác sĩ. Ngưng thuốc đột ngột có thể khiến các triệu chứng của bệnh Parkinson trở nên tồi tệ hơn.
Hãy cho bác sĩ biết nếu tình trạng của bạn vẫn tồn tại hoặc xấu đi (các triệu chứng của Parkinson của bạn không được kiểm soát).
Bạn nên bảo quản entacapone như thế nào?
Bảo quản ở nhiệt độ phòng, tránh ẩm, tránh ánh sáng. Không bảo quản trong phòng tắm. Không bảo quản trong ngăn đá. Mỗi loại thuốc có thể có các phương pháp bảo quản khác nhau. Đọc kỹ hướng dẫn bảo quản trên bao bì, hoặc hỏi dược sĩ. Giữ thuốc tránh xa tầm tay trẻ em và thú nuôi.
Không vứt thuốc vào toilet hoặc đường ống dẫn nước trừ khi có yêu cầu. Vứt thuốc đúng cách khi thuốc quá hạn hoặc không thể sử dụng. Tham khảo ý kiến dược sĩ hoặc công ty xử lý rác thải địa phương về cách tiêu hủy thuốc an toàn……..
