Easily learn the locations of abdominal pain, and the differential diagnosis for each abdominal region or quadrant using this simple chart!
There are many causes of abdominal pain, and the location of abdominal pain can help you differentiate the cause based on whether the pain is right sided, left sided, lower, or upper.
Causes of abdominal pain include appendicitis, pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, gallbladder attacks from gallstones, kidney stones, urinary tract infections, pancreatitis, etc.
This simple abdominal chart based on the location of the pain can help you create a differential diagnosis.
There is also discussion of referred pain from the chest to the upper abdomen from myocardial infarction or acute coronary syndrome (heart attack), pneumonia, or pulmonary embolism.
Pain can also be referred from the hip and pelvic region to the lower abdomen.
